dil·ly·dal·ly

dil·ly·dal·ly

–verb (used without object),-lied, -ly·ing.

to waste time, esp. by indecision; vacillate; trifle; loiter.
it was a challenge for me to think of a name that i felt best matched the clothing i enjoy designing as well as emote the fun, playful feeling i was trying to create.  i had quite the list (after list, after list, after list....) and even emailed it out asking others to weigh in on the decision.  but at the end of the day, it is much like naming a baby.... there is a long list of possibilities, but once you come across THE name it just FEELS right.  i kept telling myself to be patient, wait for that feeling, i will know it when i see it.  and then it happened.  THE feeling came to me one night while reading bedtime books to mr. big and little miss.  it was "slowly, slowly, slowly," said the sloth by eric carle.  on the last page there it was.... dillydally.  and it struck a nerve.  oh to dillydally.  to me the definition above makes dillydally sound negative, but i don't feel that way.  it has become a lost art in our fast paced life.  and how often do we tell our little ones to "quit dillydallying" because after all they are the masters of taking their time.  enjoying the journey.  soaking everything in.  driving late parents crazy.  but if there is one thing that we parents can learn from our children, it would be to stop, soak it in, give ourselves the permission to 'waste' some time now and then because we know all too well how fast it goes.plus when the definition read 'indecision', how perfect was that?  it took months of my indecision to find the name that fit.  so take some time to DILLYdally daily.... enjoy the journey.  soak in the ride.  until next time... go slowly, slowly, slowly....
